DR. MARTENS X JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT
Regarded as one of the most influential artists of all time and whose work has inspired most across the music, fashion and art world, the young black and gifted artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat was already woke way ahead of his time. Bursting into the art scene in the early 80’s, the Brooklyn born self-taught artist depicted events and thoughts that he experienced and wintenessed such as racial and social injustices as well as cultural blending while mixing poetry and enigmatic epigrams. The legacy and chaotic brilliance of the new-expressionist will continue to inspire generations in art, music and creative spaces both present and future.
But it’s no surprise that footwear brand Dr. Martens for their first-ever collaboration has decided to pay tribute the late artist with exploring 3 of his iconic works; Beat Bop, Dustheads and Pez Dispenser in turn using 2 of their iconic silhouettes as new canvases.
