It’s very second nature to anticipate skincare collabs and products from the likes of celebrity figures and influencers. However, THIS is the moment that we probably never expected. The vampire himself, Pharrell Williams is releasing his very own skincare line, developed with his longtime dermatologist, Elena Jones, Humanrace. He took to Instagram yesterday announcing the venture, holding fresh-lawn colored containers with the caption “Proud dad moment”.

Close to being alive for half a century, but looking like a boyish college bound individual, Pharrell has always been the center of attention not only for his style but also his grooming regimen, in which for years people were trying to get the inside scoop. He spoke with Allure, where he covers their latest Dec/Jan Issue to discuss not only the new brand but what it means to him. Growing up in VA beach near the water and then moving to Miami where he rides hundreds of miles on the regular against the humidity and wind is something that he finds joy in and takes from those experiences to add into his skincare line. Grooming was taken seriously on his behalf not until his early to mid 20’s (again, which he STILL looks like) and learning tidbits from the women he dated and worked with, and then learning from the icon herself, Naomi Campbell (another vampire).

“Sometimes you need to cleanse your spirit, Sometimes you need to cleanse your mind. Sometimes you’ve just got to get rid of some dead skin.”

What to expect: The first products from Humanrace are Rice Powder Cleanser ($32), Lotus Enzyme Exfoliator ($46), Humidifying Cream ($48), and Routine Pack ($100). The products contain fancy ingredients like kaolin clay, glycolic acid, and snow-mushroom extract (who knows wtf that is). But if it’s something that’ll give us a taste of the fountain of youth that he’s been drinking, WE’LL TAKE IT. Packaged in tubs made from 50 percent post-consumer recycled plastic with a removable inner chamber that can be exchanged for a refill, keeping things sustainable and eco-friendly.
